Position: Family Caregiver NOC 44101
Work Location: Toronto, Ontario, M3B 2K9
Hours: Monday to Friday; 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Pay: $21 per hour
We are currently looking for a Family Caregiver to join our private household in Toronto, Ontario. As a Family Caregiver for the senior, you will play a vital role in helping our beloved family member maintain her quality of life by providing companionship and assisting with various day-to-day tasks. Duties and responsibilities:
- Medication Management: Administer prescribed medications on time, monitor for side effects, and coordinate with healthcare providers for adjustments.
- Personal Care Assistance: Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility tasks like walking or transferring.
- Nutrition and Meal Preparation: Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs, assist with feeding if necessary, and ensure proper hydration.
- Physical and Occupational Therapy Support: Encourage and assist with prescribed physical exercises, follow recommendations from therapists, and help with mobility aids.
- Emotional and Social Support: Provide companionship, engage in social activities or hobbies, and communicate with family members about the senior’s well-being.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Observe and document changes in symptoms or behavior, report concerns to medical professionals, and maintain accurate care records.
- Household Management: Assist with light housekeeping tasks, manage laundry and personal belongings, and coordinate additional home maintenance as needed.
- Safety and Emergency Preparedness: Ensure a safe living environment, be prepared for emergencies, and stay informed about the progression of Parkinson's disease to manage future care needs.
Qualifications:
To excel in this role, you should possess:
- Completion of secondary school is required.
- Personal Support Worker Certificate/relevant education
- A First Aid & CPR Certificate
- A caring and empathetic nature, demonstrating genuine concern for the well-being of the individual.
- Clear communication skills to engage effectively with the family member and relay information.
- The ability to follow instructions and collaborate with family members and medical personnel.
- Prior experience in caregiving or healthcare is advantageous but not required.
